ASU Volleyball Heads to Nebraska for Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge

Sun Devils Look to Extend Winning Streak

The Arizona State University (ASU) volleyball team is set to travel to Lincoln, Nebraska, this week to participate in the Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge. The Sun Devils will face the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers on Friday, September 9, at 7 p.m. CT.

ASU Volleyball on a Roll

ASU enters the challenge with a 4-1 record, including a three-match winning streak. The Sun Devils most recently defeated the University of New Mexico in straight sets on Saturday, September 3.

Junior outside hitter Iman Isanovic leads ASU with 67 kills, while senior middle blocker Claire Jeter has added 61 kills. Sophomore setter Marta Levinska has dished out 179 assists, and senior libero Annika Larson has recorded 106 digs.

Nebraska a Tough Opponent

Nebraska is ranked No. 3 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) preseason poll. The Cornhuskers are 3-0 this season, with wins over Creighton University, the University of Northern Iowa, and the University of Kansas.

Nebraska is led by senior outside hitter Madi Kubik, who was named the AVCA National Player of the Year in 2021. Sophomore libero Lexi Rodriguez is also a key player for the Cornhuskers, as she was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year last season.

ASU Looking for Upset

ASU is looking to pull off an upset against Nebraska this week. The Sun Devils have never defeated the Cornhuskers in volleyball, but they are confident that they can compete with one of the top teams in the country.

"We are excited to play Nebraska," said ASU head coach Sanja Tomasevic. "They are a great team, but we know that we can compete with them. We are going to go out there and play our best."
