England has made a resounding start to their World Cup campaign in Qatar, crushing Iran 6-2 in their opening Group B match. The Three Lions put on a dominant display, showcasing their attacking prowess and clinical finishing.
Jude Bellingham opened the scoring for England in the 35th minute, showcasing his impressive box-to-box skills. Bukayo Saka doubled the lead just eight minutes later, demonstrating his quick feet and eye for goal. Raheem Sterling added a third on the stroke of halftime, giving England a commanding 3-0 advantage.
The second half saw England continue their onslaught. Saka netted his second goal in the 62nd minute, further extending their lead. Marcus Rashford, who came on as a substitute, scored England's fifth in the 71st minute, before Jack Grealish added a sixth in the 90th minute. Iran managed to pull back two consolation goals through Mehdi Taremi in the 65th and 90+11 minutes, but it was not enough to dampen England's spirits.
